We are really pleased to be part of the Education Endowment Foundation’s Switch-On Reading Project. Our lead LSAs are in the final stages of training and gearing up to start the intervention with our younger students. This looks to be an exciting project and a great opportunity to be involved in an evidence-based national strategy to support learners to become more fluent readers. This work forms part of our wider reading strategy in school and we look forward to seeing the results.
Poynton High School has joined the Queen's Green Canopy (QGC) mission. The tree pictured is a new apple tree which was planted at the school earlier this year. In October 2022, along with thousands of other schools, we look forward to officially marking our contribution by uploading a progress photo to the QGC Map for which the school will receive a commemorative plaque.
The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.
Poynton High School has received a participation award for those students who collectively participated and volunteered in this year's Duke of Edinburgh programme. Huge congratulations to all PHS students involved who spent a combined total of 2067 hours volunteering in the community. We can't agree more with the charity that say they are 'immensely proud of the dedication, effort and achievement of young people making an impact'. Well done!
