A great year for medics. We are always keen to keep in touch with our alumni and are pleased to have worked with Emily, Matt and Emilia, students from our Class of 2022, to secure places to study Medicine at Newcastle University and the University of Manchester. This year has seen an increase in applications to study Medicine and we continue to work with successful alumni to share their wisdom and expertise with our current students applying for medicine, dentistry and veterinary science courses.
Alternative aspirational destinations. With the fast-paced changes to the employment landscape beyond Post-16 education we have been pleased to support a growing number of students in their applications for aspirational apprenticeships within a range of industry areas. Hannah Hunter at Barclays, Mackenzie Ryden at HSBC, Sam Clements at Balfour Beatty, Oliver Nolan at Swizzles Mattlow, Stephanie Rowarth at Astra Zeneca and Harriet Nolan at Mcann Advertising. It has been great to see our Employ group programme continue to prepare students for access to apprenticeships up to degree level.
Director of Sixth Form, Mr Bennett, said ‘sharing in the scope of courses, institutions and employers is one of the most enjoyable parts of working with students in the Sixth Form. The huge variety of opportunities that our young people access beyond their time with us is always amazing to see, being part of this process is a real privilege for us all.’
Headteacher, Mr Dean, said ‘receiving A level results is always a milestone moment and I am very proud of all the students in our Sixth Form. We are lucky to have so many talented students who offer so much academically and more widely. We are looking forward to hearing how they use their talents at university and in future employment. Well done to all our students and our very best wishes for your exciting future!’

With the publication of this summer’s examination results, Poynton High School celebrated excellent results from its A Level and BTEC students . Students were rewarded for their hard work, dedication and resilience with outstanding final results across the full range of academic and vocational subjects.
7 students received at least three A* grades in their A levels with 36 students gaining at least 3 A* and A grades in their A level or BTEC qualifications.
