Urgent response required – COVID-19 temporary educationarrangements
Dear Parents/Carers
Ref: Urgent response required – COVID-19 temporary education arrangements
Thank you for your on-going support in these very challenging times. I will write more fully over the next few days with more detailed plans over the way ahead however I am writing quite urgently to seek your response over critical worker status.
As you will already be aware, the Government announced yesterday that schools in England are to close tomorrow until we are advised to reopen. I forecast that this will be the situation for a substantial period of time.
The Government also requested for schools to stay open for the children of ‘key workers’ and for vulnerable children (either in receipt of an Educational Healthcare Plan or being supported by specific external agencies).
Following this announcement, I am working closely with all schools in the Poynton, Disley and Adlington areas, following guidance to identify a local and collaborative response. (Potentially, this may be a local central ‘hub’ school)
The Local Authority has identified the following ‘key worker’ groups below:
- Emergency Services
- Essential NHS staff
- Social Workers
- Military
- School transport
- Education/settings staff
- Essential Adult Services
- Food Delivery/Transport
IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED
At the request of the Local Authority, if you qualify as a ‘key worker’ AND would like to secure a place for your child within an educational setting, please e-mail safeguarding@phs.cheshire.sch.uk no later than 1.30pm today (Details of proof of eligibility will follow later).
You need to let us know the following information:
- Your name
- Role
- Name of Organisation
Further information for parents/carers of children in receipt of Free School Meals will follow later.
Yours faithfully
Mr David Waugh
Head Teacher
